5 Killer Productivity Tips For Event Planners

5 Killer Productivity Tips For Event Planners

Can you spare a minute?

Time management isn’t easy. Things suck up your time and limit your productivity.

  • Answer an email.
  • Respond to a phone call.
  • Reply on FaceBook.
  • Put out a fire.
  • Can you tell me…
  • Can you find…

Next thing you know, it is quitting time.

Everyone has their own agenda. When they reach out to you, they try to change yours.

Without efficient use of your time, you have trouble:

  • Achieving goals
  • Delivering for clients
  • Earning a living.
  • Becoming successful

So how can you manage your time more effectively?

Follow these five simple
productivity tips for event planners:

1. Focus On A Goal.

Multitasking isn’t easy. Not everyone can do it.

When you focus on too many things, life becomes stressful. Selecting no more than three things that require your attention is a smart move. When you get those done, you can always add more. But at least those three things will be off the table!

2. Develop Your Plan.

Now you know what you want to do. Next set the time frame you want it accomplished.

Write out the steps you must follow to get to the finish line. Think of this as your GPS. Set it to get you from start to destination using the most direct route possible. It will save you wasting time by heading down a wrong street.

3. Fine Tune The Directions.

Break your action plan down even further. Each step consists of a series of actions. Don’t skip this important planning phase. It helps you avoid missing important details. When you overlook something, the mistake costs both time and money to fix later. Plus it adds to your stress.

4. Follow The Plan.

It sounds simple, and it is when done correctly. Set aside some focused time. Turn off the phone, ignore the emails, avoid the distractions and concentrate on the action steps.

Work on your actions and move toward completing a step. For every action you finish, you are getting closer to your goal.

If something goes wrong, don’t panic. Not everything goes as planned. That is life. Step back, breathe and review what is wrong. Know you aren’t the first person to encounter this problem. Get a fresh perspective, change your GPS to avoid the roadblock and continue your journey.

5. Enjoy The Results.

A great event is the result of planning. The accolades from guests and bosses or clients are the rewards.

While there will always be someone who feels it could have been better, they are not the ones who took action. You did. So don’t allow the naysayers to dampen your achievement.

Although if they have a valid criticism, keep their comments in mind for your next event!

In Conclusion:

Successful event planners understand the importance of managing their time. A system that helps them use their time efficiently is important.

Successful event planners also understand the importance of building a team and delegating tasks. This helps them achieve superhuman results.

Top 10 Reasons To Hire A Comedy Ventriloquist

Top 10 Reasons To Hire A Comedy Ventriloquist

Seriously, the top 10 reasons to hire a comedy ventriloquist? We must be joking, right? Is this the comedy?  No, we are serious, these are the top ten reasons event planners should hire a comedy ventriloquist. It didn’t take us long to think of these either. After all, there are only 12 reasons to hire a comedy ventriloquist. But the top ten are all you need to decide!

The Top Ten Reasons To
Hire A Comedy Ventriloquist!

10. You need live entertainment because dead entertainment won’t cut it with your audience.

9. Your client requested a stand up comedy ventriloquist.

8. Ventriloquist comedy acts make you laugh.

7. Standup comedians lack visual engagement for larger audiences.

6. Ventriloquists are popular and in demand thanks to Comedy Central’s Jeff Dunham.

5. You want comedy entertainment for events you host.

4. You’ve never hired ventriloquist comedians before.

3. A caveman told you “ventriloquist funny”.

2. Your boss told you “ventriloquist funny”.

And the number one reason that you should hire a comedy ventriloquist for your event:

1. You want your audience to laugh!

A good comedian ventriloquist provides a unique form of live entertainment. The Muppets introduced audiences to the hip factor of puppetry. Puppets have a magnetic appeal that draws people’s attention. Add that with the stress relieving laughter of a standup comedian, and you have a winning combination.

Comedy Ventriloquist Tom Crowl travels the U.S. providing entertainment for events large and small. He personalizes programs for corporate and private clients. The moment his characters recognize people in your audience, the funny flies through the roof.

As a professional comedian ventriloquist, Crowl also teaches others the art of ventriloquism. His on-line course Learn-Ventriloquism has helped hundreds learn the skill. Some have even gone on to entertain audiences with their own blend of ventriloquist comedy.

When your event requires fun, give Tom a call. If he is not the right comedy ventriloquist for your event, he is happy to make recommendations. A co-founder of the International Ventriloquist Society, Tom is friends with many top ventriloquists.

Reasons To Hire A Corporate Entertainer For Your Event

Reasons To Hire A Corporate Entertainer For Your Event

What if your company never hired an employee?

You wouldn’t be reading this for one thing. You wouldn’t have a job.

And you wouldn’t be planning a corporate event.

But they did hire employees. Why?

Because each employee is an investment in the company. If the investment pays off, the employee earns money for the business.

When you hire a corporate entertainer,
you are investing in the success of your event.

Just as your company reviews a person’s application and checks references before they hire. You should too. Luckily it is a lot easier to hire a corporate entertainer. Their videos and references are much easier to find.

The right corporate entertainment for your business function makes your event memorable. Your guests have more fun, become involved and will share an experience.

Don’t Eat Lousy Food!

If you taste tested your caterer and gagged at the offerings, the chance of you hiring them is unlikely. Guests would experience a similar reaction and question your abilities to plan the event.

If your guests were vegans and you served prime rib, you’ve ruined the meal. It isn’t the prime rib’s fault. People love prime rib. Unless they are vegans. It is simply the wrong selection for the event.

Don’t watch lousy corporate entertainment!

You can’t taste test your entertainment, but you can watch them work. Does their video make you laugh? Pay no attention to the laugh track – that is too easy to fake. Does the video make you laugh? If so, there is a good chance your guests will too.

(At least, if they are anything like you … )

Do you understand your guests’ entertainment tastes? Hiring a prime rib for a salad crowd results in wasted entertainment. And it isn’t the act’s fault. Unless they didn’t ask the right questions going in.

There are a ton of considerations for every corporate event. Entertainment is an important piece of the puzzle. You need to talk with your corporate entertainer before you hire them to make certain you are both on the same page.

As an event planner, it is important to surround yourself with people you can trust. Those who can examine the details, determine possibilities and offer solutions.

Let our office help you. Tom’s 30 plus years of event entertainment experience can shed light on your event’s needs. We understand what goes into creating a memorable event.

Holiday Party Entertainment Made Easy

Holiday Party Entertainment Made Easy

It’s that time of year again—

Time to find the entertainment for your corporate holiday party.

We are here to help with Holiday Party Entertainment Made Easy!

Trust me, I can feel that pit of dread in your stomach from here, and I don’t blame you for having it.

Bringing an entertainer in to your corporate party is kind of like letting a baboon loose at the zoo. You wonder,

“Is he going to run around happily and entertain everyone or is he going to do the wrong thing, say something in appropriate, steal someone’s peanuts and make this the last holiday party we get to have?”

When you hire a corporate entertainer, you shouldn’t have to think about any of those things.

Really, you shouldn’t.

After all, your entertainer is a business owner too.

He or she should understand that there are things you can do and say—and things you can’t.

Corporate comedians can provide the best bang for your entertainment buck, but because humor is so subjective, they can also bring up verboten topics that upset management or the staff and turn the party into a disaster. But if the business comedian is too careful, they won’t be funny. So what’s a party planner to do?

Hire an Experienced Comedian

Interviews help you weed out the inappropriate entertainers and can save you from a lot of headaches and employee complaints.

Interview them the same way you might a potential employee. Find out:

  • how they read the audience,
  • how they deal with unexpected issues,
  • how many events they’ve had each year.

(in other words, are they being asked back or having trouble getting repeat business?),

  • what their planning and researching process is, etc.

The more professional and prepared the comedian is, the better choice he or she is for your event.

Consider a Ventriloquist

Stand-up comedy routines can often come across as aggressive when the comedian tries to be edgy, or confrontational when he or she is simply trying to engage the audience.

But do you know what isn’t considered aggressive or confrontational in corporate comedy?

A puppet.

Or a ventriloquist mask placed on a couple of your employees.

The art of ventriloquism gives a comedian the opportunity to walk that fine line between edgy and inappropriate to get the most laughs from your workplace crowd. They offer a multidimensional experience that allows everyone to be in on the joke, no matter their point of view or sense of humor.

5 Benefits of Corporate Entertainment

5 Benefits of Corporate Entertainment

Hosting corporate entertainment requires planning and budget, so you may wonder: why should I make an effort to provide it?

The simple answer is to strengthen your company’s business relationships with clients, customers, associates, and employees. Corporate party entertainment events introduce new products, increase customer retention rate, create networking opportunities, improve in-work relations, reinforce your image as an industry leader, and much more.

Even better, why not go the extra mile and delight them with something more than just the usual PowerPoint presentation? Today’s audience expects more. Companies face the challenge of how do I retain my audience’s attention? The answer comes as providing corporate party entertainment that focuses on the story you are telling in a fun and enjoyable manner.

A memorable corporate event will benefit your company in more ways than one:

  • Promote your business. Many companies today use corporate entertainment to create a buzz around their product or service. Corporate events can provide clients with information about a service or product. A product launch using corporate entertainment not only creates an eye-catching, memorable moment, but should also integrate brand’s identity and key messages to give businesses a powerful voice.
  • Reduce stress level in the workplace environment. The happier your staff is, the more effective they work together professionally. Laughter serves as a good way to reduce stress, so why not provide corporate entertainment that brings laughter and joy to your employees and associates?
  • Reward your customers. Make your customers feel valued, and they will reward you with loyalty, the fulcrum that springs a business forward and brings about profits. Research by Gartner shows that the lion’s share of your future revenues (80%) will come just from 20% of your existing customers. Did you know that retaining an existing customer will cost you less than attracting new customers? So think beyond the usual gift cards or discounts. Delight your customers with a day or night of fun.
  • Boost employee morale. Are you looking for a cost-effective and innovative way to boost morale and, consequently, increase team productivity in the office? Then consider hosting a corporate entertainment event to make your employees feel that you value them and appreciate the work they do. Giving your employees the time to have fun and interact in a relaxed setting outside of the usual work environment is good for building relationships and camaraderie among employees and corporate leaders.
  • Reinforce messages and core values of the company. Corporate entertainment is an excellent way to show your company ethics and core values. Share the message that you are invested in the relationship that you have made not only with your clients but also your customers and employees.

A successful corporate entertainment event not only brings fun, but also promotes sharing, networking and interaction among attendees. This enhances business activities. Choose a corporate party entertainment provider that knows how to capture your audience, while delivering your brand’s key message.

It would be horrible to miss something …

That would kill the mood quicker than Uncle Charlie’s teeth falling into the mashed potatoes.

ultimate-flyerThat is why we created the Ultimate Corporate Event Checklist. And you can get your copy below as a free PDF download.

There are a lot of moving parts involved in a successful corporate event.  And a solid event checklist is the best way to make sure they all run smoothly.

There are basic questions you should ask yourself when compiling a checklist of this magnitude:

What is the objective of the event? It is important to have your company’s goals in mind when planning any corporate function. Every decision should be weighed against its contribution to achieving the desired outcome.

What is your budget? What will be the return on your investment? Your event won’t happen unless you can identify where the cash flow is coming from.

Who is your target audience? Knowing your guests will help determine the mood and dictate the pace of your event.

Where and when will the event be held? You must decide on the day(s) to hold the event. What time it will start? It is important to develop a time line for the weeks leading up to the event as well as the event itself.

Have you considered tentatively booking a couple different venues? You don’t want to miss out on any options while waiting for the green light.

Make certain the venues you consider can accommodate your needs. Once they’re booked:

  • what will they include?
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if it were all inclusive?

An important part of the ultimate corporate event checklist is creating your team. Successful events are the result of dedicated people working together to achieve an outcome.

  • Delegate the role of a chief officer to run your event.
  • Assign individuals or a small team to handle each aspect of the event.
  • Select people that are well organized and punctual.

You want the right people on the bus, in the right seat. Your team will be accountable for the deliverables, so make wise decisions.

Who will be entertaining your audience? This is a key factor in reaching your event objectives. You want a presenter who can capture attention and deliver the value of your message.

Good or bad, the outcome of this event will stay with the attendees for quite a while. With proper planning your team can create a positive feeling and leave your audience is buzzing about the event for weeks.

Hiring Entertainment for Events

Hiring Entertainment for Events

Are you tasked with hiring entertainment for events?

Choosing an entertainment company will be one of the most important choices you make when organizing your corporate event. Why? When any person attends an event the two things they remember are the food and the live entertainment. This is why it is extremely important that you get it right. You could hire a stand up comedian or even a ventriloquist, but if their act is not very good, it is going to ruin the whole event. We have come up with a few tips below about things you need to remember when hiring a corporate entertainment company.

One: Have a look at a video of the entertainment company in action before you commit. This will give you an idea as to whether they fit the genre of your event and also whether they could entertain your audience.

Two: You need to be prepared to invest a reasonable amount of money into your entertainment. Hiring a cheap entertainment company will be noticed by your guests straight away, as you will most likely find that the material doesn’t look very professional. It is best to budget for quality rather than try to save money on a cut-rate entertainer.

Three: You need to make sure the act knows your requirements before you hire. Ask the entertainer questions about what they are planning on doing for your event and speak to them in depth about their previous events. This will help you determine whether they are actually interested in working for you or whether they are just in it for the money. If an entertainment company shows interest in your event and are responsive to your questions then they will be a good one to choose!

Four: Ask the entertainment company if they have any references they could give you. You can then ask their previous clients about their experience and also ask about the prices they were quoted to ensure you are not getting ripped off. If the company don’t have any references then it may be best to look elsewhere.

Business Comedians Nail Corporate Comedy

Business Comedians Nail Corporate Comedy

Business comedians are not your standard stand-up.

Bring Life and Laughter to Your Next Company Event …

They say that all work and no play makes Jack and Jill a really dull couple.

That’s why many Fortune 500 companies now bring the power of laughter to corporate training sessions and appreciation events. Corporate entertainers, like ventriloquist Tom Crowl, can bring just the right amount of fun to any business function.

Corporate Training Sessions

Learning new software or sales techniques can be stressful for any staff. Instead of worrying about their computer skills or this month’s sales goal, business comedians will make them worry about less important things, like:

a) laughing a little too loudly at the joke that was made at the boss’s expense.
b) accidentally inhaling soda through their nose during an unanticipated snort.
c) where Tom’s hands are.

Holiday Parties

Nobody loves the holidays more than Tom, which makes his act just perfect for this year’s company holiday party entertainment. Some people think a corporate holiday party can’t be fun without an open bar, but hiring Tom makes more sense because:

a) he’s usually less expensive than buying booze for the entire company.
b) people will actually remember the party the next day.
c) his performance has never led anyone to believe that photocopying their body parts was a good idea.

Client Appreciation and Hospitality Events

Tom appreciates his clients, so he knows that you do as well. Why not give them a fun-filled evening with dinner and a show? No, you don’t have to invite every single client. Maybe one or two of those invitations could get “lost in the mail.” Like that client who:

a) leaves 30-minute messages on the phone system overnight.
b) conveniently forgets to sign the check every month.
c) laughs incredibly loud in the office so nobody can concentrate on their work until they leave. Never mind. Tom says you should invite that client.

Employee Appreciation Events

Chances are your employees are tired of pretending to laugh at your jokes. Why not try a different approach? Tom is the ideal corporate entertainer at your next company picnic. He can even give you tips for better delivery of your own jokes, like:

a) don’t make jokes while eating potato salad. It causes splatter.
b) don’t work on your ventriloquism by making the brisket scream while the vegetarian from accounting is passing by the table.
c) just stop it with the jokes already and call Tom.

Bring life and laughter to your next corporate entertainment event with business comedians, like Tom Crowl. Contact our office now for availability and pricing or call (202)455-VENT or (410)596-4127 for more information.
